The Third International Hittite Security Studies Congress Has Concluded

The Third International Hittite Security Studies Congress, organised by the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Hittite University, has concluded. During the three-day congress, papers were presented both in person and online.

The third International Hittite Security Studies Congress, organised by Hittite University since 2020, was held. A total of 128 academics and researchers from 5 different countries presented their papers at the congress.

The opening programme of the congress was held at the Ethem Erkoç Conference Hall, Hittite University Vocational Schools Campus.

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sami Kiraz, Head of the Department of International Relations, expressed his pride that the Department of International Relations, which began undergraduate education for the first time in 2019 and will graduate its first students this year, was organising this important event for the third time.

Providing information about this year's theme of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kiraz said, "The theme of our conference this year is “The Search for Peace and Security on the Global Agenda”, with the aim of providing a platform for researchers working in the field of security studies to come together to discuss traditional and current issues in security studies and to examine new perspectives that will guide the field. Given the current period, in which questions and problems are diversifying and becoming more complex every day, it is necessary to conduct comprehensive studies on the search for peace undertaken by actors in international politics and these actors' approaches to this new situation, the policies they produce, and their adequacy/inadequacy. In this context, the aim of the conference is to conduct a comprehensive assessment of security studies, both in terms of their theoretical and conceptual frameworks and their current dimensions in the context of fundamental issues."

Prof. Dr. Sabiha Kılıç, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, stated that the theme of this year's conference is “The Search for Peace and Security on the Global Agenda” and said:

"The wars, migrations, natural disasters experienced on a global scale, and the developments in digital technology, which may become an important part of our daily lives in the near future, highlight the importance of this theme we have chosen. This year, 128 researchers and academics from 58 different institutions in five different countries, namely Turkey, Azerbaijan, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Russia, submitted their papers to our conference. These topics and the submitted papers will be discussed in 30 simultaneous sessions at our conference."

Hitit University Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Şimşek also thanked those who contributed to the organisation of the conference and expressed his hope that the conference would be completed successfully.

A total of 128 academics and researchers from 58 different institutions presented their papers in 30 sessions at the conference.
